1
Cut the sponge cake into 2.5cm / 1in cubes, and get them into 2ltr trifle bowl, or any other 2ltr bowl.
2
Wash and slice the strawberries and place them in the bowl too.
3
Make up the strawberry jelly/Jell-O according to the instructions of the brand you are using and pour it over the sponge and fruit.
4
Cover the bowl and get it into the fridge until it sets.
5
Make up the custard, using custard powder as shown in the video.
6
Once the custard is cool and the jelly set, spoon the custard onto the jelly and spread it out and level it off, cover and chill again for 30 minutes.
7
Making up the Chantilly cream, pour the cream into a bowl, add the icing sugar and vanilla, and whisk until thick as seen in the video, chill for 15 minutes.
8
Spoon the cream on top of the custard and spread it out, I find a fork is the best tool for this.
9
Clean up any cream around the top of the glass trifle bowl with kitchen paper.
10
Finely grate a little milk or dark chocolate over the top of the trifle.
11
And that is it, your Strawberry family size trifle is ready to serve.
12
Serve on a dessert plate with some sliced fresh strawberries at the side.
13
Enjoy.
